Discusses the concept and theories of globalization. Explains processes of globalization and analyzes its´ the impact to the international relations. Analyzes the international issues within the framework of globalization. Examines how globalization affects the structure of the nation-state. Discuss the issue of globalization and identity politics. Discuss the place and the importance of Turkey in a globalized world.

Aim(s) of Course |
: |
This course provides an overview of the current debates on globalization and the state. The main focus is on the changing relationship between state, society, and the individual in a globalizing world. Topics to be covered include globalization, the state, nationalism, political identity, citizenship and democracy. |

Course Contents |
: |
In this course, what globalization is, how it is defined, globalization processes and the basic theories to explain this processes will be examined. The course also discusses the basic threats of globalization to the the nation-state and the reflections of this development to the international relations, the anti-globalization social movements, current issues in the international arena such as global terrorism and global inequalities. |
