Learning Outcomes of the Course |
: |
students recognize differences between cryptogamae (non-seed) and Phanerogamae (seed) and understand the place of non-seed plant in taxonomic level. they know how and which basic biological characters help to recognize non-seed plant and seed plant understand general reproduction of plants, and different types of asexual and sexual reproduction of non-seed plants Know that which characteristics separate sub-systematic groups of seedless plants and upper and lower categories. Know that seedles plants living in aquatic environments constitute algae and understand the contribution of algae to the biological life in aquatic ecosystem. Understand the basic morphological characteristics of seedless plants. Understand the general taxonomy of algae which belong to Cyanobacteria,Clorophyta,Euglenophyta,Bacillariophyta,Phaeophyta and Rodophyta, morphological features, habitat types and the differences between high build plants. Have information about the taxonomic classification of black moss(Bryophyta) and general characteristics of these categories. Know the basic classification units of Ferns(Pterodophyta).Understand the reproduction of Ferns, life cycle and general characteristics of their habitat. Know the evolutionary process of seedless plants and understand how seed plants at present appeared in this evolutionary devolepment.

Aim(s) of Course |
: |
Give a detailed information about plant-like organisms that lack flowers and are not reproduced by seeds, e.g., including ferns, mosses and algae. |
|
Course Contents |
: |
This course gives a modern overview of the diversity and phylogeny of cryptogams, i.e. non-seed plants, ferns and algae. Life cycles, evolutionary developments and other biological characteristics of cryptogams will be examined during this course.
