Learning Outcomes of the Course : Student defines the terms of religion, history and history of religions.
He evaluates religious studies both in Islam and the West
He discerns the place and importance of religion in the history of the world.
He classifies religions from various angles.
He distinguishes basic beliefs, practices and ethical principles of the living religions.
He interprets basic teachings and messages of the scriptures within the framework of sample texts.
He can compare religions in terms of their similar, different and common points.
He analyzes the separation processes and common grounds in religions.
He interprets traditional and modern sects and recent trends in religions.
He carries out the basic principles of the reliable interreligious dialogue that is relied upon sound information.

Aim(s) of Course : Aim of the course is to help student to know researches which are done in Muslim world and West; to comprehendbasic belief and practises of other religions.

Course Contents : Emergence of "History of Religion" as a discipline; the word ´religion´ and its roots and nature of religion/s; difinition of religions and their classification; and information about living religion among the world.
