Level of Course : Second Cycle

Year of Study : 1

Course Semester : Spring (16 Weeks)

ECTS : 6

Name of Lecturer(s) : Prof.Dr. AKIN OĞUZ DİNÇ

Learning Outcomes of the Course : Explains the relationship between soil making factors and soil properties
Understands the relationship between soil physical, chemical and biological properties and soil mapping .
Establishes the relationship between the soil mapping units determined during the survey and soil management and sustainability.
Determines the spatial distribution of the soil properties and its relations
Enables to perform spatial analysis of soil properties that could effect crop production and soil sustainability
Performs spatial analysis of soil properties and prepares maps using GIS that could be used by planners and researchers from other diciplines who are directly related with soil use.

Mode of Delivery : Face-to-Face

Prerequisites and Co-Prerequisites : None

Recommended Optional Programme Components : None

Aim(s) of Course : Analyzing the information from the detailed soil maps using GIS techniques and performing spatial analysis in order to produce spesific maps for end users from other disciplines for a better understanding of distribution of soil qualities and properties. To determine cross reference analysis of different soil properties and their spatial analysis.

Course Contents : Soil physical, chemical, biological and morphological properties are determined through detailed soil maps and from soil survey reports and their transfer to GIS environment. Digitation of soil mapping units and creation of soil database. Spatial analysis of soil properties and determination of soil qualities which could effect its utilisation and usage.

Language of Instruction : Turkish

Work Place : Department of Soil Science and Plant Nutritoin Remote Sensing and GIS Lab.
