Learning Outcomes of the Course : Produces texts by means of using various Writing techniques such as Argumentation, Persuasion, Analysis-Evaluation , Creative Writing.
Produces various types of documents necessary for official and everyday communication such as, Resumes, Petitions, Letters of application, Reference, Complaint, Statements of Purpose,
Inspects his/her own academik development through self-evaluation on the portfolio work.
Summarizes long texts such as public addresses, lectures, reports by using priciples of Objectivity, Unity and Balance
İdentifies Logical Fallacies (false/deceptive logic ) in the texts and arguments.
Analyzes and evaluates articles.
Organizes and conducts small-scale group projects.
Towards his/her profesisonal development, reports events and incidents in various forms.

Aim(s) of Course : This course aims to gain students the skills to communicate effectively through the oral and written channels, and as neccesitated by ınstitutional and everyday communicative needs, by considering the essential features of the context such as the author, audience, purpose. Additionally, higher level cognitive strategies and writing techniques such as, argumentation, analysis, summarizing and creative writing are expected to be developed.

Course Contents : Following the sequence of reading-discussion-writing order in class, group discussions will be held on the reading texts and results will be reported orally and in writing. Techniques such as argumentation, analysis, evaluation, and summarizing and creative writing will be employed .Writings will be accumulated and evaluated . via the port folio system Also included in the course are the examination of authentic examples of formal, institutional and casual texts and practicing diferent ways of producing documents such as Statement of Purpose, CV, Application. letters, Letters of complaint etc.
