Learning Outcomes of the Course : To know indicators of the social skin health.
To know diagnostic and therapeutic approach to skin diseases, which are commonly seen in the community.
To know doses (by age), effects and side effects of the commonly-used dermatological topical drugs.
To know criteria and conditions of referral to a hospital.
To be able to take a problem-oriented detailed history, to be able to do a physical examination, and to know essential investigations by their priority and by their imporatance.
To be able to do a problem-oriented approach, to be able to plan a treatment by its priority and by its imporatance, and to be able to perform a preventive medical approach.
To know ethical and legal aspects of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and to be able to evaluate their economic burdens to the country.
To be able to establish an affective and effective communication with patients and their relatives, to be able to inform the family of a patient, to be able to do a holistic, tender and respectful approach, and to be able to work in harmony with colleagues and staffs.

Aim(s) of Course : To educate a physician, who can protect and develop the well-being of the skin, hair, nail and mucosa of the people in all age groups, who can follow and produce new knowledge and new technology in order to heal the commonly-seen skin diseases, and who can use these in the direction of requirements and expectations of the community.

Course Contents : Visiting the dermatology clinic and the presentation of the training programme, introduction to dermatology and the elementary lesions, the flora of the skin and the pathologic agents and diagnostic methods of bacterial diseases, the bacterial diseases of the skin, the viral diseases of the skin, the pathologic agents and diagnostic methods of viral dermatoses, syphilis, HIV-AIDS, superficial fungal diseases, the pathologic agents and diagnostic methods of superficial fungal diseases, parasitic skin infections, the pathologic agents and diagnostic methods of parasitic skin infections, eczema, urticaria, the drug eruptions, psoriasis, lichen planus, vitiligo,the bullous diseases, Behçet’s disease, granulomatous skin diseases, dermatomyositis, lupus erythematosus, scleroderma, vasculitis, benign skin tumors, malignant skin tumors, parapsoriasis and cutaneous lymphoma, melanocytic nevi, malignant melanoma, dermoscopy- 3 point check list, UV and the skin - sun protection, oral mucosal lesions, the dermatoses of external genital system, hair diseases, nail diseases, acne and rosacea, pediatric dermatoses, dermatoses of the pregnancy, dermatocosmetology, principles of topical treatment.
