Learning Outcomes of the Course : know psychiatric interview rules and psychiatric inspection symptoms
use international diagnostic criterias and know the diagnosis and the differantial diagnosis of the common psychiatric diseases
know appropriate approach to the urgent psychiatric cases
know the treatment of some common psychiatric diseases
know the criterias and conditions to send the patient to a psychiatrist
know the ethical and legal sides of diagnosis and treatment
communicate with the patient, the family of the patient and the other doctors and learn how to inform the relatives of patients.
Present the patient he/she is responsible of to the other doctors.
Take responsibility for the patient discusses with the team

Aim(s) of Course : The objective of this course is teaching stıdents psychiatric interview principles, symptoms of psychiatric inspection, psychiatric diseases, treatment of some common psychiatric diseases.

Course Contents : The doctor-patient relationship Psychiatric interviewing techniques (history taking and mental status examination) Mood disorders (major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, other depressive disorders); Treatment of mood disorders; psychiatric approach to the depressive patient; management of a patient with high risk of suicide and/or who attempted suicide Psychotic disorders, management of an agitated-psychotic patient, treatment of psychotic disorders Anxiety disorders, management of an anxious patient, treatment of anxiety disorders Alcohol and substance related disorders (diagnosis and management of substance abuse, dependence, intoxication and withdrawal) Delirium, dementia and amnestic disorders; management of a patient with cognitive impairment Mental disorders due to a general medical condition Somatoform disorders Ethics and forensic psychiatry Psychotherapies Eating disorders Personality disorders Sleep disorders Sexual dysfunctions Psychopathology in movies Theoretical education and treatment planning at the clinical setting Differential diagnosis of a patient with a mental disorder How to prepare a patient medical-psychiatric file Mental disorders during childhood and adolescence I: Evaluation of mental disorders during childhood and adolescence; principles of development and personality development Mental disorders during childhood and adolescence II: Anxiety disorders, Attention deficiency and hyperactivity disorders, alcohol and substance related problems during adolescence Mental disorders during childhood and adolescence III: pervasive developmental disorders and mental retardation; suicide management and treatment during childhood and adolescence
