Learning Outcomes of the Course : Describes the development and basis of cryopreservation.
Learns the cryopreservation techniques.
Learns the protection of plant materials for biotechnological methods
Learns cryopreservation and thawing processes.
Learns the properties of cryoprotectants and vitrification, desiccation techniques.

Aim(s) of Course : This course aims to teach the basic concepts and subjects of cryopreservation.

Course Contents : The contents of this course include introduction to the historical development of cryopreservation techniques; slow cooling techniques; rapid cooling techniques; cold hardening, cryoprotectants (DMSO, ethylene glycol, sucrose, mannitol, sorbitol, etc.); vitrification technique and the preparation of vitrification solutions (PVS1, PVS2, PVS3, etc.); desiccation technique (silica gel and laminar flow cabinet); synthetic seed production (encapsulation); encapsulation dehydration; desiccation encapsulation; droplet method.
