About the Programme |
: |
The Department of Health Physics offers comprehensive training in nuclear, diagnostic and therapeutic medical physics and in health physics. Graduates are prepared for teaching, research, and clinical physics positions in medical centers, national laboratories, and universities, and in the medical and nuclear technology industries. Health physicists may participate professionally in the radiation treatment of cancer patients, in advanced medical imaging and diagnostic procedures, or in related research and teaching. Health physicists may operate radiation protection programs at nuclear industrial facilities, hospitals, or laboratories, or may perform research on methods of measuring ionizing radiations (i.e., dosimetry).
The evaluation of the results and the placement of the applicants is at ÇU- Health Sciences Graduate Institute (HSGI), Health Physics Department´s discretion. ÇU HSGI has the initiative to decide not to fill the quotas. Meeting the application criteria does not guarantee admission to the programs.
The applications will be evaluated by the relevant Institute’s Admission Committee.
The results can be found in the application program. Successful applicants may learn the following procedure from “Results and Registration” section.

|
Profile of the Programme |
: |
It awards MA degrees in Health Physics. The MA in Health Physics is a valuable and worthwhile terminal degree that provides access to many employment opportunities in the field. Didactic training on all aspects of medical treatment, medical imaging and radiological physics and dosimetry is available.
Health Physics is a branch of applied physics; it uses concepts and methods of physics to help diagnose and treat human disease. The ÇU Health Physics Department offers graduate training and education in radiological physics, radiotherapy physics, physics of nuclear medicine and dosimetry and in functional, anatomical, and interventional medical imaging. Different procedures including ultrasonography and magnetic resonance are also included in the curriculum and research.

Occupational Profile of Graduates |
: |
Graduate program in the ÇU Health Physics Department prepares students for professional positions in teaching, research and clinical physics service in hospitals, medical centers, national laboratories, universities, and governmental regulatory agencies. The primary emphasis of the Health Physics program is in radiological physics. Radiological physicists may participate professionally, for example, in the radiation treatment of cancer patients, in advanced diagnostic imaging procedures such as ultrasound, PET, CT, and MRI, and in related research, teaching and quality assurance (QA).
Health physicists may, for example, operate radiation protection programs at universities, hospitals, and nuclear industrial facilities, and may perform research on methods of measuring ionizing radiations (i.e., dosimetry) or controlling environmental radiation hazards.
