  Programme Information
About the Programme : Department of Turkish Language and Literature was established in 1982. Since then about 1000 students have been graduated from the department. The Department has a library which contains about 5000 books. In addition, we have been subscribed to Turkey’s most important literature, language and art periodicals for almost 10 years. Graduate program consists of six divisions namely Old Turkish Literature, Contemporary Turkish Literature, Turkish Folk Literature, Turkic Dialects and Their Literatures, Contemporary Turkish Language and Old Turkish Language. Related to these devisions various subjects are taught. Introducing the characteristics and the richness of Turkish language, literature and the culture has always been main concern ofthe program. The historical evaluation of Turkish language is surveyed by means of literary specimens and the emphasis is laid on providing reading habit and skills.  

Qualification Awarded : The students who have successfully accomplished this program gain the master’s degree of Turkish Language and Literature. 

Level of Qualification : Second Cycle (Master’s Degree) 

Specific Admission Requirements : The students can apply to this program providing ALES score, grade point averages and interview in accordance with the regulations of “Çukurova University Graduate Education and Examination Committee” and can pursue their education in their or in related fields.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning : Recognition of previous learning in this programme is implemented according to the rules and regulations of Çukurova University Social, Health and Science Institutes.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations : In order to graduate from this programme, the students are required to successfully complete all the courses with a minimum average grade point of 3.00 out of 4.00. 

Profile of the Programme : Turkish Language and Literature department has 14 teaching instructors and 8 assistants, so there are altogether 18 academic staff at the Department. Graduate program consists of six divisions namely Old Turkish Literature, Contemporary Turkish Literature, Turkish Folk Literature, Turkic Dialects and Their Literatures, Contemporary Turkish Language and Old Turkish Language. Occupational Profile of Graduates : Graduates have opportunities to get teaching jobs in secondary and high schools as well as universities and they can also find jobs in libraries, state archives offices and other places such as newspapers as researchers, authors etc. 

Access to Further Studies : The graduates of this program are eligible to apply for admission to obtain a PhD degree in their or related fields if they pass the evaluation process designated according to the “Regulations of Çukurova University Graduate Studies”, which includes a required ALES score and an adequate English language proficiency.
