  Programme Information
About the Programme : The main purpose of the educational program of the Department of Food Engineering is to educate students to have knowledge and skills required to produce wholesome, safe, nutritious and consumable foods. Other purposes include conducting research projects and organizing courses, seminars and conferences for food industry, consumer organizations and other organizations.  

Qualification Awarded : The students who have successfully accomplished this program gain the master’s degree of Food Science and Technology and Related Fields. 

Level of Qualification : Second Cycle (Master’s Degree) 

Specific Admission Requirements : The students can apply to this program providing ALES score, grade point averages and interview in accordance with the regulations of “Çukurova University Graduate Education and Examination Committee” and can pursue their education in their or in related fields.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning : Recognition of previous learning in this programme is implemented according to the rules and regulations of Çukurova University Social, Health and Science Institutes.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations : In order to graduate from this programme, the students are required to successfully complete all the courses with a minimum average grade point of 3.00 out of 4.00.

Occupational Profile of Graduates : Graduates of the Department of Food Engineering are able to carry out work that requires expertise in the food engineering field independently, and develop new approaches for unforeseen complex problems faced in the food engineering applications and take responsibility to provide solutions. They can lead in situations that require solving problems in the field of food engineering, and evaluate the skills and knowledge acquired at the level of expertise in the field of food engineering with a critical approach and direct his/her learning accordingly. They can also systematically transfer current developments in the field of food engineering and their work by means of written, oral and visual presentation with the support of qualitative and quantitative data to the groups both in their fields and out of their fields. They can analyze and improve the social relationships and the norms that lead the social relationships and change them when necessary. They also have oral and written communication skills in at least one foreign language at the level of B2 of the European Language Portfolio. They can professionally use computer software programs at the level their department requires and they can also use information and communication technologies proficiently. Graduates can both control and teach the stages of data collection, interpretation, implementation, and announcement of the findings by taking the social, scientific, cultural, and ethical values into consideration. Furhermore, they can develop strategies, policies, and implementation plans related to food engineering and evaluate the obtained results considering the framework of quality assurance processes. They can also use their knowledge, problem solving and/or practical skills obtained in the field of food engineering at the interdisciplinary studies. 

Access to Further Studies : The graduates of this program are eligible to apply for admission to obtain a PhD degree in their or related fields if they pass the evaluation process designated according to the “Regulations of Çukurova University Graduate Studies”, which includes a required ALES score and an adequate English language proficiency.
