About the Programme |

Medical Faculty of Çukurova University, founded and connected to Atatürk University on 1972, was built on an area of 22.000 decare, services in Balcalı Campus. In our faculty, beside management and instruction units, there are laboratories allowing to search in different kinds of sciences, hospital complex servicing health and education in high level to especially Çukurova location, which has 1200 bed capacity, Eastern Anatolia and Southeastern Anatolia.
Our faculty has basic academic units, substructure, possibilities in many areas, and learning environment. Our faculty also has laboratories to bring our students in enough clinic experiences, collaborations with corporations with which you realize practices medical education built upon society, bed capacity to service patient variety. Besides, our faculty is interacting with voluntary organizations, non-governmental organizations, occupational organizations and national / international organizations.
Our faculty has an organization of educational management consisting of corporations which has student participation. In every process about education and instruction, student representation, which is an important part of education, is being provided and communicated with students regularly and permanently in every stage. In our faculty, student and professor feedbacks is being formed regularly, evaluated reaching levels to defined goals of our education program. Our faculty, since it’s founded, has been in a situation education-oriented, and tried to carry out new education technics in its program and worked for improvement and arrangement of all education activities. One of the radical faculties in Turkey, our faculty has entered changing and transformation process and has a pre-graduation program which is accredited until 2018. Our faculty is one of the 20 faculties accredited by the pre-graduation education program in Turkey. The goal of our faculty is to train doctors who are preferred by society and service servers, who is capable of doing career plans in any branch of medicine, who has ability and perfection in current presentation of health service by attaching importance to preserving health service in first stage, who has the ability of realize scientific improvements by following them, who has the ability of think analytical and critical, who can contribute to improve society’s health situation, who can present active health service, who comprehend health’s economic, social, psychological and biological components.

In Medical Faculty of Çukurova, integrated education system that is being used since it’s founded, have been enriched with productive methods suitable to education system based on instruction that is accepted prevalently in the world for the last 10 years.
The integrated training system that has been practiced since the year of Ç.Ü. faculty of medicine was established, in the last 10 years enriched with new methods in accordance with learner-centered education system which widely accepted around the world. The fundamental and essential principle of training program which enriched with small group activities is gain learn-centered knowledge and skills.
Undergraduate medical education program of the Ç.Ü. faculty of medicine focused on priority community problems. The program target student’s learning subjects under the headings of normal structure and function, abnormal structure and function at the pre-clinical period, be prepared with required information and skills to deal with the problems of primary health care in the clinical term and perform all of these qualifications and competencies such as trainers under the supervision of a physician at the period of internship. The undergraduate medical education program which focused on the primary health problems of the society, consistent with the ÇEP which is recommended to faculties by YÖK.
Period1: Normal structure and Function / Human Sciences Cell-Tissue: consists 7-9 week-long 5 meetings of a total 36 weeks. Basic concepts processing like cell constituents, morphology, life cycle, the body’s biological balance, homeostasis that helps of understanding of normal structure and function of the systems.
Period2: Normal structure and Function / Systems: consists 6-9 week-long 5 meetings of total 38 weeks that compose system groups. It aims to introduce normal structure and function of the body by a system-based, integrated (horizontal) and linked with clinical samples (vertical) restructuring.
Period3: Pathophysiology and Disease: Basis property of 38 week-long period is the transfer of clinical relevance and relations of the pathological processes on the basis of the systems. It consists 3-5 week-long 8 committees.
Period 4-5: Training period (Clinical sciences): 78 week- long period aims to provide discipline-based backdrop that the students could grasp basic knowledge and skills in clinic which learned before, provide learning of needed information’s of manage priority health problems, develop skills on solving problems, diagnose, and communicate with patients.
Period 6: Prospective medicine semester (Internship): The basic goal of one year long term is provide students to practice medicine under supervision. At the level of junior assistant incipient in expertise, they actively participate in the follow-up diagnose care and treatment of patient. The students assess their knowledge, skills and attitudes in these studies.
The teaching and learning methods which used in the ongoing education system, includes presentations, laboratory studies, humanistic approach at skills laboratory, integrated sessions, case reports, panels and conferences , per patient education programs, patient file preparation-presentation-discussion, class, special study modules, educational film screenings, health education applications, community-based training applications and visits to institutions.
In our faculty pre-clinical education are made in auditoriums of morphology building which has department of Basic Medical Sciences Branches, Deaconship and registrar’s office. As for clinical term study are made in Balcalı Hospital. |
