Learning Outcomes of the Course : Learns the fact that different meanings are attached to art through the changes in the structure of ideas during the historical process
Gains the ability to make interpretations on various problems related to art from different viewpoints
Realizes the importance and need of the philosophy of art for explaining art from multi-dimensions
Obtains information about the aesthetic awareness and develops a unique aesthetic appreciation

Aim(s) of Course : To provide students with information on the definition of art by various philosophers throughout centuries, discussions on artists, artwork, functions of art, the origin of art, philosophy and arts, etc. so that he/she gains an original view.

Course Contents : Ways of thinking about art in various periods of philosophers (Plato, Aristotle, Plotinus, Kant, Hegel, etc.)., Artist identity discussions, analysis of the work of art, the origin and genesis of art, art functions
