Aim(s) of Course : This lecture aims to provide nurse candidates with epidemiological and clinical knowledge, which, when combined with practical experience, can be used in the diagnosis, control and management of communicable diseases encountered during nursing practice with expected emphasis.

Course Contents : Introduction to communicable diseases, agents and infection chain, clinical characteristics of communicable diseases, signs and findings, control of communicable diseases, prevention, hand hygiene, immunisation, communicable diseases epidemiology, air borne, water and food borne communicable diseases, communicable diseases transmitted sexually or by skin or mucosa, by blood and blood products, zoonotic diseases, nosocomial infections and their management, risk groups for communicable diseases, international health, data resources and internet use
