Learning Outcomes of the Course : Gains knowledge of art history.
Knows the functional value of art during the humanization period.
Understands the fact that in ancient history each civilization established in different regions created its own unique artistic style.
Understands that art has changed resulting from the changes in social institutions.
Realizes that art history education is necessary to understand and evaluate the current status of art and develop a critical view.
Knows about art culture, artistic criticism, art ethics, and science of art.

Aim(s) of Course : This course aims to inform students about the formation and evolution of art formed in Prehistoric and Ancient Civilizations from social, intellectual, political, economic and geographic dimensions.

Course Contents : Prehistoric Arts, Paleolithic Period, Mesolithic and Neolithic Period arts, Ancient Arts, Mesopotamian (Sumer, Akkad, Babylon, Assyria), Egypt, the Aegean (Crete and Mycenae), Anatolian (Hittites, Phrygian, Urartu), Greek, Etruscan and Roman Arts
