Learning Outcomes of the Course : Learns the changes in existing rules and concepts of law until today. : Gains an insight on the law which was effective during the formation and development of our existing Law and Roman Law system. Evaluates the bond of common law with other countries involved in the same law system as our country and has the ability to establish this.

Aim(s) of Course : The purpose of this course is to examine the emergence and development of the establishments, rules and concept of law since the foundation of Roman Empire and its impact on the current law, the effects of Roman Law on Civil Law, particularly in terms of Liabilities and Property Law, and its comparison to the current law rules.

Course Contents : This course will focus on Roman law of obligations, debt relationship in general, the concept of debt and the elements of debt, the debt issue, the birth of debt, debt resources, Roman law system of conventions, debt termination. It will also deal with Roman property law, The concept of rights in rem and its features,subject and types and the kinds of the property, the property ,the qualifications, scope and limits of the right of ownership, possession, ways of acquiring property, the protection of property, limited rights I rem.
