Understands sedimentary rock cyle and occurrence of terrigenous rocks. Knows the steps of terrigenous rocks cycle. Examines and identifies the contents of terrigenous rocks and classifies them. Entitles the terrigenous rocks by using classification diagrams. Associates the terrigenous rocks with the economical geology.

Aim(s) of Course |
: |
To identify terrigenous rocks from hand specimen and thin sections, classify and identify their properties, teach students to examine terrigenous rocks under the petrographic microscope and analyse them in details. |

Course Contents |

Main contents of clastic rocks, their occurrences, detailed petrographical analysis. Classification and nomenclature of terrigenous rocks and identify relationship between the rock and their provenance. |
