Course Description Course Name : Research Methods I Course Code : FDE 729 Course Type : Optional Level of Course : Second Cycle Year of Study : 1 Course Semester : Fall (16 Weeks) ECTS : 6 Name of Lecturer(s) : InstructorDr. MUSTAFA MAVAŞOĞLU Learning Outcomes of the Course : Learns some important concepts of research Identifies the steps of conducting research Comprehends and analyzes types of hypothesis Formulates research questions Learns literature review Mode of Delivery : Face-to-Face Prerequisites and Co-Prerequisites : None Recommended Optional Programme Components : None Aim(s) of Course : The main objective of this course is to examine the research process (problem identification, data collection, data analysis and interpretation of results), review major scientific research methods (experimental method, descriptive method, historical method, etc.) and provide students with the ability of doing literature review to carry out research on a particular topic, collecting and evaluating data, learning report writing techniques practically . During the course , statistics and bibliographic software packages are also used for data evaluation and report writing. Course Contents : This course covers science and basic concepts of science, basic information about the history of science, scientific methods and different views on these methods , sampling, data collection, and data collection methods (quantitative and qualitative data collection techniques), data recording and analysis, interpretation and reporting of data.
