  Course Description
Course Name : Bioindicator İnsects

Course Code : BK-594

Course Type : Optional

Level of Course : Second Cycle

Year of Study : 1

Course Semester : Spring (16 Weeks)

ECTS : 6

Name of Lecturer(s) : Prof.Dr. EKREM ATAKAN

Learning Outcomes of the Course : Learns general characteristics of bioindicator insects
learns primary and secondary effects of pollutants on the bioindicator insects
learns role of honey bees and their importance at environmental pollution

Mode of Delivery : Face-to-Face

Prerequisites and Co-Prerequisites : None

Recommended Optional Programme Components : None

Aim(s) of Course : Waste of industrial and chemicals such as fertilizer, pesticides in agricultural areas that reach increasing levels. All pollutants ( industrial and waste of urban, organic or nonorganic chemicals used in agriculture), together cause occurrence of important problems in soils and waters. Bioindicator organisms show different sensitivity to various pollutants, and they are considered more important to keep environmental pollution under control rather than other classical measurements.

Course Contents : This lesson consists of pollutants and their environmental effects, systematics of insects being used for pollution researches and their characteristics, various effect of pollutants on the insects and use of insects as bio-indicators for environmental pollution

Language of Instruction : Turkish

Work Place : Classrom
