To study trends and concepts in Modern and Contemporary art with reference to their historical background , and to analyse their connections with social, political and economical phenomena in order that students can place their own work properly within the framework of of modern and contemporary art theories and practices |

Course Contents |
: |
The course includes discussion of critical issues and debates regardind Modern and Contemporary Art and creative practice. The main points of discussion are the critical theory, art history and cultural revolutions that shaped the art of the1900s through the 1960s and art schools such as cubism, dadaism, surrealism, constructivism, minimalism. During the course, students make verbal and written analyses of issues through interpretation and comparison of visual materials and readings. |
