Learning Outcomes of the Course |
: |
1.Explains the structure of health system, current health practices and the relationship of family medicine discipline with this structure. 2.Becomes selective in acquiring and interpreting data from medical history, physical examination and laboratory evaluations, and use these data in developing an appropriate management plan in cooperation with the patient. 3.Explains and uses patient-centered interview model which begins with revealing the patient’s agenda (opinions, worries and expectations), integrates the doctor’s agenda, finds a common ground and discusses a mutual plan for future. 4.Defines the epidemiology of frequent symptoms and diagnosis in primary care, and use this in specific decision-making process. 5.Clarify and utilize what is required for effective patient-doctor relationship, showing respect for patient autonomy. 6.Explain the importance of records in family medicine, and keep record appropriately. 7.Develop a reference framework to understand and deal with the family dimension, community dimension, social and cultural dimensions in individual’s attitude, value and beliefs. 8.Define and use working principles suitable for family medicine such as managing early stage and undifferentiated situations, asking for laboratory evaluations in a graded fashion, using time as a diagnostic tool and tolerating uncertainty.Identify theoretical background of comprehensive approach (managing the individual’s a number of complaints and pathology, acute and chronic health problems simultaneously, improving health and well-being by applying strategies to maintain health and prevent diseases appropriately), and use this approach. 11.Associate patients’ personal health needs to meet community’s health needs by using the resources available in a balanced manner, and explain the role of family physician in boosting community health. 12.Clarify contextual, attitudinal and scientific aspects of medicine

Students are expected to gain primary care oriented fundamental knowledge, skill and attitude in line with the principles and proficiencies of family medicine at the end of the Family Medicine Internship. |
