Observe and apply different diagnosis, treatment, observation, education and supervision methods of the primary health care centre physicians

Aim(s) of Course : The course of the “PUBLIC HEALTH” in the sixth year aims to provide course participant candidate doctors with the necessary skill and attitude based on the knowledge obtained during the initial course in the fourth year (MED-405); to recognise the health problems of the community using scientific and epidemiological methods perceiving the social characteristics of the community where they serve, and to intervene in these recognised problems using health promotion and health education strategies.

Course Contents : The education of 6 weeks takes place in the Public Health Department and its Health Education and Research Area called "field" where there is direct contact with the community under the supervision of the Health Ministry´s local family physicians working in primary health care centres of the area and it consists of the PRACTICE of subjects covered theoretically in the primary section of the course held in 4th year (MED-405) like Basics of public health, Epidemiology, Health education, Communicable diseases and prevention, Maternal health, Women and reproductive health in Turkey, Family planning, Work health and safety, Accidents and first-aid, Health service in extraordinary incidents, Community nutrition, Laboratory in Primary Health Care, Child health, Adolescent health, Immunisation in Primary Health Care, School health, Tourist health, Zoonotic diseases, Chronic diseases, Elders health, Health management, Environment and public health, in addition to Seminaries, field researches and Group works/presentations.
