Learning Outcomes of the Course : Performs basic neurological examination.
Knows the approach to the diagnosis, differential diagnosis and the treatment of common neurological diseases in the community, lists priorities and emergencies, has the approach for preventive medicine. Knows the criteria and conditions for referring to the hospital and in case of necessity refers the patient to secondary centers.
Takes detailed history related to the problem from the patient.
Recognizes peripheral and cranial neuropathies, diseases of neuromuscular junction, muscle,and spinal cord and refers the patient to secondary centers.
Knows the clinical features of epilepsy and differentiates epilepsy from other non-epileptic disorders. Diagnoses epilepsy in an adult patient and refers to a secondary center.
Knows to evaluate higher cortical functions and diagnoses dementia syndroms.
Knows the primary management of ischemic and hemorrhagic cerebrovascular diseases and refers to secondary centers.
Knows the diagnosis, differential diagnosis and the management of headaches and sleep disorders and refers.
Recognises multiple sclerosis, the other demyelinating diseases of central nervous system, extrapyramidal system disorders and movement disorders and refers.
Knows neurological emergencies such as coma and manages the patient.
Knows ethical and legal aspects of diagnostic and treatment procedures and evaluate the economic burden. Presents the patient, discusses with the team, and writes patient report.
Establishes sensitive and effective communication with the patient and the relatives, gains the ability to inform both the patient and the family, performes holistic, sensitive and respectful approach to the patient and the family, works in harmony with colleagues and medical staff

Aim(s) of Course : The aim of the course, is to tell the highlighted clinical relevance of pathological processes on the basis of systems, to develop knowledge and skills of priority health problems by describing abnormal structure and function of the pre-clinical period.

Course Contents : Clinical connections of phatological processes on basis of systems are emphasized, basic life support, professional skills laboratories, family medicine applications and horizontal and vertical integration supported in eight board courses. These boards are infectious diseases, hematopoietic system diseases, circulatory-respiratory system diseases, digestive system diseases, endocrine diseases, reproductive system, urinary system diseases, neurology and psychiatry disorders, musculoskeletal diseases.
