Aim(s) of Course : Providing some of the neccessary information by a phsical description of microclimate near the ground in which most terrestrial life exists. The properties of microclimate; understanding the principles of microclimate to develop rational system in agricultural projects and modifying climate for sustainable agriculture, understanding the laws governing the plant/climate interaction; detrmining the environmental factors concerned to take short and long-term operating decisions.

Course Contents : Definition of microclimatology and its importance; review of radiation physiscs; solar radiation; net radiation; instruments used for radiation measurement; soil heat flux; soil temperature; sensible heat flux; wind and turbulent transfer; atmospheric humidity; modification of soil temperature regime; evapotranspiration; photosynthesis; CO2 balance; wind breaks and shelter effect; frost and frost control; new methods for improving water use efficiency
