Defines the common characteristics of living organisms
explains cell structure and functions of organelles, the differences between primitive and advanced cells
Explains the differences between plant and animal cells
Explains cell division and growth
explains the role of plant and animal tissues
Defines the basic system and their function of animal organisms
Classifies the surrounding plant and animal organisms in general.

Aim(s) of Course : To gain basic information about general characteristics of living organisms, cell structure, plant and animal cells, tissues and systems.

Course Contents : In this lecture, the study areas of biology sciences and common characteristics of living organisms are described. Cell and cell structure, procaryotic and eucaryotic cells, cell organelles and their functions, cell division, plant tissues and their functions, respiration and photosynthesis, structure of animal, animal tissues, organ systems, classification of animals are explained with theoretical lectures and laboratory practice.
