Learning Outcomes of the Course : Learns the place of grape species and varieties in plant taxonomy, morphologic and genetic description methods
Knows properties of grapevine genetic resources considering grape growing and breeding.
Learns new grape varieties and rootstocks
Learns international diagnosis of morphological and genetic methods used for the protection of genetic resources

Aim(s) of Course : The purpose of this course is to give the criteria used for the definition of the genus Vitis, the factors affecting the use of rootstocks, the rootstocks properties, pure American species and varieties, hybrid American grape rootstocks, important table, wine, and raisin grapes.

Course Contents : Description and history of Ampelography, IBPGR descriptors for vines. Vegetative and generative characteristics examined in Ampelography. Rootstocks and cultivars which are used in the viticulture.
