Learning Outcomes of the Course |

Defines the structure of immunoglobulins and specifies the characteristics of immunoglubilin classes . Describes the structure and function of IgG molecule and explains the relationship between IgG and the other antibody classes . Is able to discern Fab and Fc sections, antibody binding region and hinge region. Explains the relationship between the antibody and complement . Describes the structure of human Fc receptors . Defines the terms of somatic recombination . Explains light and heavy chains of immunoglobulin and V,D,J recombinations . Clarifies recombination signal sequence and the 12/23 rule . Defines the relationship between gene conversion and immunoglobuline diversity . Explains the mechanism of class-switching recombination.

: |
In this lesson, immunoglobulin classes are analyzed in structural and functional aspects, differences between classes and reasons of this are explained by genetics mechanisms, and the roles of immunoglobulins in defence system are discussed.
