Aim(s) of Course : students will be ablle to learn how to conduct an academic study Students will learn some important concepts such as hypothesis and variables Students will be able to identify these concepts in research articles students will also study the stages of an academic article (i.e. introduction, data collection, etc.) students will learn types of quotation and reference citation in an academic study Students will be familiar with some statistical calculations and terms such as t-test and chi- square students will be able to display the results of a study in figures and tables

2 Identifying research questions in articles preparing research questions learning more concepts: hypothesis, type of hypothesis students will find a related article and try to define the hypothesis and research questions in the article Whole class discussion
3 preparing and identifying hypothesis in articles Preparing and identifying purpose statement in articles students will find a related article and try to define the purpose statement in the article Whole class discussion and content analysis
4 A practical revision of what has been covered so far Students will form their own groups and try to prepare research question, hypothesis, and purpose statement on a related topic Group work
5 Studying how to review the relevant literature Types of quotation such as paraphrase, set off and run in quotation Students read the assigned chapter before the class Content Analysis Group work
6 revising quotation and examing the homework on quoatation students will prepare different types of quotation using different sources Whole class discusion
7 learning some rules about how to make reference citation in an academic paper students will examine some English books or articles to find out how reference citations are made Analysing some articles group work
