Learning Outcomes of the Course : Students discuss language acquisiton theories and history of these theories.
Students analyze the relationship between the order of sounds, morphemes, syntax during language acquisition and physical and cognitive development.
By analyzing the process of lexical acquisition, students compare vocabulary acquisition in a second language.
Students compare monolingualism and multi-lingualism.

Aim(s) of Course : Investigating how children acquire language provides information about the nature of language in general and the processes ot the brain. Studies on this subject also give insights into second language acquisition and learning. For that reason, this course aims at studying language e acquisition based on theories of language acquisition theories and acquisition of language in various contexts.

Course Contents : Views on language acquisition based on theories of language and cognition. Acquisition of phonology, morphology, syntax, and lexicon second language acquisition multilingual acquisition language acquisition in nonnormal contexts
