Learning Outcomes of the Course : Compares the sounds of Turkish and English and discuss how to solve the problems originated by different sounds and syllable structures
Compares morphemes of Turkish and English and develops awareness of functions of morphemes
Compares syntactic structure of Turkish and English and gain insights regarding problems based on syntactic structures

Aim(s) of Course : This course aims to investigate Turkish with a linguismtic approach and to discuss the similarities and differences between Turkish and English. Additionally, the problems that are likely to arise due to differences between the structures of the two languages will be discussed on specific problem areas in learning and teaching.

Course Contents : Comparison and contrast of phonemes, morphemes and syntax of Turkish and English. Structures such as passive, causative, reciprocal, that may cause problems in learning and teaching
