Aim(s) of Course : The sensitive and intellectual process of knowledge in Medieval Islamic philosophy, agreed ways of the knowledge acquired with religious knowledge and its different ways from it, and to determine the influence of those discussions on the Western philosophy through philosophers and the texts in their works.

Course Contents : The course covers topics such as acquisition of knowledge and classification of sciences in al-Kindi, Alfarab, Avicenna, Ghazali, Averroes and Ibn Haldun; the place and significance of intellectual and religious knowledge in classification of sciences. Averroes and Thomas in terms of psychological process of knowledge; Ghazali and Descartes in terms of the problems arisen in the process of acquiring knowledge ; Avicenna and Locke in terms of source of knowledge and its classificiation; Ghazali and Hume in terms of the criticism of causality in reasoning; Ghazali and Kant in terms of the limitation of reason.
