Learning Outcomes of the Course : Understands the importance of knowledge of rhetoric in determining the artistic value of the works in Turkish-Islamic Literature.
Explains the differences between Beyan, Meani and Bedii and explains the order of their importance on constitution of rhetoric.
Knows the history of rhetoric, and how it developed in time.
Recognizes rhetoric and its branches the bedi , the beyan and the meani.
Detects the rhetorical elements in a text.

Aim(s) of Course : The aim is to teach elements of rhetoric of Turkish poetry and how to identify these elements in sample texts.

Course Contents : In this course, the rhetorical elements frequently used in Turkish literature such as Mecaz-ı mürsel, Teşbih, Kinaye, Tezat, Mübalağa and so on will be mentioned and studied on samples.
