Learning Outcomes of the Course |

Evaluates definitions of church and the establishment process of church. Has the ability to evaluate the role of the church in terms of its function and place in the society in Jesus Christ period and
interprets developments in post-Jesus period by comparing it with the previous period. Has the ability to analyze the Constantine period and freedom of religion in Christianity in a critical way and
can compare Monofizit churches on the basis of their historical background, distinctive characteristics and profiles of their followers. Evaluates the reasons of the seperation of East-West churches and the process of seperation and
analyzes Eastern Orthodox chruch and Russian Orthodox Church considering their similarities and differences. Evaluates the rise of Protestanism and Martin Luther.

Aim(s) of Course |

This course provides students with the ability to understand different interpretations of Christian theology and to draw attention to the similarities and differences between Eastern and Western Churches and to evaluate emergence of sects. It also aims to help students understand the history of church along with its periods and to offer suggestions further studies in this subject. |

This lesson includes topics such as, definition of church and its function in the period of Jesus. This course also includes characteristics of Eastern and Western churches and their emergence from a historical perspective. |
