Learning Outcomes of the Course |
: |
Has the ability to evaluate definitions of church and the establishment process of church. Has the ability to comment on the role and the function of the church in the society in Jesus Christ period. Interprets the developments in post-Jesus period in comparison with the previous period. Analyzes the Constantine period and freedom of religion in Christianity in a critical way. Compares Monofizit churches on the basis of their historical background, distinctive characteristics and profiles of their followers. Evaluates the reasons for the seperation of East-West churches and the process of seperation. Analyzes Eastern Orthodox chruch and Russian Orthodox Church considering their similarities and differences. Evaluates the relationship between Reform movevement and Catholic Church. Evaluates the rise of Protestanism and Martin Luther. Interprets the important points of church history and its influence on today’s church.

Aim(s) of Course |

This lesson enables the students to understand different theological interpretations, to draw attention to the similarities and differences between Eastern and Western Churches and to evaluate the emergence of sects. It also aims to help students understand the history of church along with its periods and to shed light on further studies in this subject. |
