Learning Outcomes of the Course : Gains advanced knowledge about religious sciences and especially about history of religions.
Knows the western pioneers of history of religions, and learns their basic opinions and approaches.
Manages to approach the matters of history of religions analytically through modern methods.
Has the ability to do distinctive studies in his field as he absorbs the main approaches of the historians of religions,
Makes comparisons between the various approaches of western scholars, and evaluates them.
Contributes to his study-field, attends national and international organizations on religions.

Aim(s) of Course : The history of religions deals with issues handled also by philosophy of religion, psychology, sociology, anthropology, history and theology. Its problem is to demonstrate that it is not merely ancillary to these other studies but is a discipline in its own right. It makes unique contributions to these areas of knowledge. Thus, the aim of this lesson is to study the History of Religions as an Independent discipline and reveal its own methodology.

Course Contents : This lesson includes the foundation and historical development of history of religions as a modern discipline, helps students to absorb the pioneers’ approaches in this field and applies these approaches into academic studies today ,thus developing new approaches and theories.
