Defines the basic concepts about New Turkish Literature II. Classifies the period of the artist and knows about the works of art. Explains the idea of national literature movement recognizing the period. Explains the literary community of this period and explains the principles through texts. Comprehends the emerging literary genres of this period with their distinctive features. Analyzes the effects of this period to the Republican period.

Aim(s) of Course |

The aim of this course is to help the students learn about the Republican Period of Turkish Poetry and the poets (Mehmet Akif Ersoy, Orhan Veli, Arif Nihat Asya, Faruk Nafiz, Orhan Seyfi and others); story and novel (Reşat Nuri Güntekin, Yakup Kadri, Halide Edip, A. Hamdi Tanpınar, Peyami Safa, Tarık Buğra and others) in the Republican Period. |

The contents of this course include introducing the idea of national literature movement of the period, reading at least one piece of literature written when this movement occured,specific identification of the important features of this period and the literary people who lived during that period; the effects of National literature period on the 20th century Turkish literature; the developments in Republican Period Turkish Literature until 1950s; the analysis of the important literary works of prose, poetry and drama. |
