Learning Outcomes of the Course |
: |
Realizes the fact that using a proper language and having the ability to speak makes human being unique among other living things and therefore learns how to use his/her speech abilities consciously. By using detailed information about speech , learns about the different ways to increase his/her capacity at work. Learns about how to use different oral expression types to make the knowledge transfer related to their occupation better and communicates more efficiently while doing the classroom activities. Learns how to prepare ceremonial speeches according to the kind and quality of the occasion. Learns how to prepare and make a speech in front of a crowd.

Aim(s) of Course |

The aim of this course is to help students improve their skills and knowledge about oral expression which is a fundamental requirement of being a good teacher, solve the problems encountered related to speech not only in their private lives but in also in their professional lives; speak their mother tongue properly, have a clear and understandable expression , improve their understanding ability, be knowledgeable about the different types of oral expression and be able to identify the type of expression and respond accordingly when they listen to a speaker. |

Course Contents |

The contents of this course include the main characteristics of oral language and oral communication; oral expression; the main characteristics of speech ability (natural language and body language); the main principles of a nice speech; the main characteristics of a lecturer (emphesis, expression, hesitation, diction…etc.); prepared and unpreapared speach; the phases of the prepared speech (selection of the subject and limit; aim, deciding the main and supporting ideas, planning, writing the text; and the speech); types of the speaeh I: (face to face speeches, conversation, introduction, answering the questions, celebration of christmas, birthday, bairam etc…, radio and television speeches, telephone speeches, wanting a job, interview, joining different kinds of cultural and artificial programs as a lecturer etc…); making unprepared speeches on different subjects, study on some kinds of unprepared speeches and oral expression activities and correction of the language and expression mistakes. |
