The course aims to help students develop skills to assess the major security problems that dominate contemporary world affairs; to evaluate the notion of security, and to encourage them to link the course material to empirical observations in world politics. |

This course focuses on the major theoretical trends and developments in Security Studies. It examines a selection of classical and contemporary issues and themes in security studies, including causes of war, arms control, security communities, securitization, societal security, human security. |
