Aim(s) of Course : The purpose of this course is to equip students with the ability to identify the skills according to the age groups, use the appropriate methods and apply skill tests.

Course Contents : Description of movement and skill, explaining the general concepts Kinds of skills; motor skills, cognitive skills, perceptual skills. Skill learning theory and strategies; opened, closed, serial, and continuous skills. Stages and classifications of skills learning; hierarchical theory and gradation theory Environmental and social conditions, individual factors in sports. Learning methods and theories in sports and physical education. Stages and classifications of skills learning (Gentile and Postner 2 -16) Gentile’s approach to two and multiple dimensions systems in skills learning The role of general nevre system in skill teaching; Movement control; Perception, memory, remembering, forgetting Feedback in skill learning, instrinc feedback and extrinsic feedback; Types of feedback in amateur and professional athletes Sensory helps in skill learning. Quality, quantity and period aspects of skill drills. Analysis of skill tests related to the branches of sport
