Learning Outcomes of the Course : 1. Understands the process of change from Ancient Roman architecture until the Baroque period.
2. Acquisition of basic knowledge on Roman Empire, the Middle Ages and the period of Islamic art heritages.
3. Analyzes the semantic relationship between before and after the medieval architecture and the culture that creates it.
4. Comprehends the reflection of the relationships on cultural, economic, geographical, etc., differences between European and the Islamic art of the Middle Ages.
5. Studies the changes in the architecture of different regions and examines the reasons.
6. Builds and designs new methods and designs out of the critical comments of the architectural style before and after medieval era.
7. Summarizes the general architectural features of different historical periods.

Aim(s) of Course : In accordance with the teachings of the history of architecture, this course describes the design theories of the world of architecture. Ancient Roman architecture, medieval architecture and architectural heritage of the Renaissance period to the end of the process are introduced. Thus, on the one hand, historical assessment is being made for the design of contemporary architecture, on the other hand, the students form a strong historical background on the subject.

Course Contents : Artistic and architectural developments from Ancient Roman Period to 17 century Baroque Architecture.
