  Course Description
Course Name : Introduction To Environmental Engineering I

Course Code : CMZ103

Course Type : Compulsory

Level of Course : First Cycle

Year of Study : 1

Course Semester : Fall (16 Weeks)

ECTS : 6

Name of Lecturer(s) : Prof.Dr. AHMET YÜCEER

Learning Outcomes of the Course : Students are expected to develop an understanding for engineering science and its fundamental concepts. Specifically, a mass balance approach to problem solving will be developed and applied in a wide variety of environmental engineering contexts. Students will be challenged to think about environmental problems within the larger engineering, regulatory, social, and ethical perspective.

Mode of Delivery : Face-to-Face

Prerequisites and Co-Prerequisites : None

Recommended Optional Programme Components : None

Aim(s) of Course : The primary purpose of this course is to introduce the fundamental principles of pollution, pollution control, ecological balance, natural cycles, and necessity of global cooperation for environmental management and sustainable development to the environmental engineering students. The secondary purpose is to familiarize the students with the broad perspective of environmental engineering as a multi-disciplinary practice. Oral communications and ethics discussions are integral to developing contextual understanding and practical approaches to problem solving in environmental engineering.

Course Contents : Description of the environment and general cycle of the matter. Human and environmental pollution, pollution sources, pollution of water sources. Water pollution control and solid wastes.

Language of Instruction : Turkish
