Learning Outcomes of the Course : The student taking this course,
Understands and implements the basic concepts and theories of Public Health and Science of Nursing
Recognizes the society in the region, may notice the changing health care needs and determines the high priority health problems.
Describes the structure and operation of voluntary and social health resources of the National Health Care System.
Is aware of and can work in maternal and child health, school health, occupational health, community mental health, and home care services.
Defines health-risk groups in society, and applies preventive health care
Applies his/her nursing knowledge and skills in protecting and improving health in accordance with the needs of individuals.
Makes, implements and evaluates a training program for protecting and improving health.
Provides counseling on some selected health issues.
Cooperates with colleagues, community leaders and health disciplines to meet the health needs of individuals, family and community groups.
Reports the results of the study, and holds records.
Follows the scientific and technological developments related to the public health.
Defines the principles of management and supervision related to the principles of public health nursing, and functions, responsibilities, tasks of the public health nurse.
Evaluates the health of the elderly, describes precautions necessary to protect and improve the health of the elderly, and summarizes the operation of aged care systems.
Makes rehabilitation nursing practice.
Knows the techniques of effective communication, and uses the ability in practice.

Aim(s) of Course : The aim of the science of public health nursing is to educate nurses who use their basic knowledge, concepts and principles in line with the country´s health care system and the philosophy of our school. Also the nurses should take the role of professional nursing at every stage of the disease, improve the public health of the individuals and community groups and protect them against the diseases.

Course Contents : This course focuses on the protection and development of the health of family and the community groups in accordance with the basic concepts and theories of public health and public health nursing science. This course introduces the unique roles and functions of the main application areas of public health nursing such as family, school, workplace, elderly care and home care.
