Aim(s) of Course : At the end of the course the students should be able to know history of patient care, medicine and nursing, philosophy of nursing, educational philosophy of nursing, profession of nursing, nurse’s qualities, nurse’s duty, qualifications and responsibilities in health care system, legislation and laws,national and international nursing associations. They should also be able to know historical approaches to modern health issues and gain scientific perspectives related to history of medicine.

Course Contents : A general view of patient care through history, patient caring applications in ancient civilizations, patient cares in ancient Turks and famous Turkish physicians, development of nursing from 1400 to the present, Florance Nightingale and nursing, development of nursing in Turkey, educational problems in nursing, communication and uniform arrangement in nursing, regulations of administering the institutions that offer bed-care, nursing organizations
