Learning Outcomes of the Course : To explain the reasons behind the rise of Maturidism
To be able to know the rise of Maturidism and its process of formation, history, literature
To know the principal concepts of maturidism and its main views
To determine the position of Maturidism in the Ahl al-Sunni School
To describe the effects of Maturidism on the Turkish-Islamic thought
To describe the manifestations of Maturidism in todays Islamic world
To compare the Maturidism with the other Islamic sects
To be able to count the major figures of the Maturidism repectively

Aim(s) of Course : To recognize Maturidism that an important part ofThe history of Islamic thought and the Ahl al - Sunnah school

Course Contents : The political and teological problems in the early Islamic history; Ashab al-Hadith and Ashab al-Ray; Abu ?anifa and Hanifi School; the realitionship between Hanifi and Maturidi school; Abu Mansur al-Maturidi ´s life , works and ideas; the process of formation of Maturidism and its spread; The princibal views of Maturidism and its mentality; The basic concepts and classical sources of Maturidism; Maturidism within Turkish-Islamic thought; the differences between Ashari and Maturidi School
