Learning Outcomes of the Course : Establishes the relationship between the folk culture and folklore with culture and explains these concepts within the scope of the social sciences.
Comments on changes of folk culture in global context and understands the position of his/her culture inside the global culture.
Prepares presentations about folk culture for the Social Sciences Lesson.
Categorizes the subjects of folk culture inside the field of Folklore.
Understands the subjects of folk culture in the context of the protection of the intangible cultural heritage of folk culture and establishes its relationship with museum education in social sciences education.
Establishes the relationship between folk culture, art, values and verbal traditions and makes practices at different levels.

Aim(s) of Course : The aim of this course is to help the students comprehend the learning areas in the 8th Grade Folk Culture course curriculum ,which is taught as an elective course, and gain the ability to prepare activities and understand the contents of the units of the related curriculum.

Course Contents : The contents of this course include the definition of the folk culture concept, the cultural patterns of change in the process of globalization, the perceptions of people regarding the folk culture, variety of responses, attitudes and behaviors people use in the face of different events and facts, oral traditions, value systems and beliefs, food, clothing, architecture, art, music, games, and entertainment.
