Learning Outcomes of the Course : By the end of Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine 4th Year Public Health course; medical doctor candidates participating in the programme; Describe the community which will benefit from the service provided
Have the necessary skills to be able to analyse public health problems in Turkey and to determine public priorities
List biological, physiological and socio-cultural both individual and environmental factors in health
Describe the work definition and the problems related to the health service model in Turkey
Comprehend and discuss different aspects of service provided at the level of primary health care
List the priorities in health care services
Describe the role of community education and health promotion strategies
Have the necessary skills to be able to assess and analyse the data related to the evaluation, planning and practice of health services
Describe the cooperation between Turkish health organisation and other public or private institutions
Rank the health needs of the community

Aim(s) of Course : The course of the “PUBLIC HEALTH” in the 4th year aims to provide course participants with the necessary theoretical knowledge, which when combined with the practical experience, can provide a preventive, therapeutic and rehabilitatory primary care service. It is the thoretical component of the 6th year Public Health course which is fully practical.

Course Contents : Basics of public health, Epidemiology, Health education, Communicable diseases and prevention, Maternal health, Women and reproductive health in Turkey, Family planning, Work health and safety, Accidents and first-aid, Health service in extraordinary incidents, Community nutrition, Laboratory in Primary Health Care, Child health, Adolescent health, Immunisation in Primary Health Care, School health, Tourist health, Zoonotic diseases, Chronic diseases, Elders health, Health management, Environment and public health, Seminaries and Group works/presentations.

Language of Instruction : Turkish+English
