Explains the basic concepts and framework of the field. Synthesizes information from an interdisciplinary perspective. Has the knowledge and skills to explain how it works in every aspect of communication in different cultures. Distinguishes the scientific method from non-scientific knowledge. Knows how to interpret comparatively the importance and process of communication with the basic concepts of society.

Introduction to Communication course aims to give an understanding of the importance of communication within a frame of basic information, key concepts and theoretical discussions. Graduate students of this course who plan to have professional jobs in communications will be able to take a step into an academic area where the knowledge comes within aspiration for intellectual creativity. |

Content of the course is as follows: process of communication, forms of communication, selective reception and perception, attitudes, mass media, historical transformation from writing to internet, the attraction of audio-visual communication, movies, radio and television; popular culture and Cultural Studies, research methods in Communication Studies; News, Adverts, media industry, national and global communication systems, media and ethics and ethics of profession. |
