Learning Outcomes of the Course : Define epidemiology, etiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment methods of diseases requiring surgical intervention
Manage the nursing care of the patient undergoing surgery
Define the concepts and terminology used in surgical nursing
Know the factors that affect care of the surgical patient and perform patient care with a holistic approach based on information theory.
Make evidence-based nursing practices
Provide education and counseling for patients undergoing surgery so that they can manage their own care
Use effective communication skills in the care of patients undergoing surgery
Do teamwork in the care of the patient undergoing surgery
Get involved in the research for surgical nursing, patient care, and use the results in the follow-up
Know the principles of ethics and issues related to surgical nursing .
Provide health services to prevent diseases requiring surgical intervention

Aim(s) of Course : Provide information on the basic concepts and applications of Surgical Nursing, the basic requirements of surgical patients, diseases requiring surgical intervention systems, factors affecting the success of surgical treatment, surgical nurse qualifications. Help students gain the ability to use knowledge acquired in the field of surgical nursing in the process of nursing , help to gain the ability to use the holistic approach to the individual physically, psychologically and socially , teach the importance of recording and reporting, and help students gain the ability to transfer theoretical knowledge learned into application .

Course Contents : In this course, preoperation and postoperation nursing care systems on the overall patient care take place.

Language of Instruction : Turkish

Work Place : Theoretical courses are on the ground floor in the classroom setting, applications executing in the hospital.
