Learning Outcomes of the Course : Distinguishes the differences between prokaryotes and eukaryotes.
Describes the general characteristics of bacteria, fungi and viruses.
Defines the metabolism of microorganisms, enzymes, and the characteristics of reproduction.
Defines the mechanisms of pathogenicity and infectivity of microorganisms
Defines the genetic structure of microorganisms.
Lists the main features of the immune defense against infections.
Explains the antimicrobials, their effective mechanisms and mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance.
Lists the working principles of microbiology laboratory.
Lists the methods of production and identification of microorganisms.
Explains the sterilization, disinfection and antisepsis methods.

Aim(s) of Course : Providing information about the classification of microorganisms, structures, reproductive environments and production, genetic and metabolic characteristics, microbiology working principles and major basic methods.

Course Contents : Providing basic information about application areas of microbiology, general characteristics, metabolism, enzymes, growth characteristics, pathogenicity, the mechanism of infection and genetic characteristicsof bacteria, fungi and viruses, immune defense, control of microbial growth, the principles of microbiology laboratory, security of laboratory, equipments and basic diagnostic methods.

Language of Instruction : Turkish
