Learning Outcomes of the Course : Knows the background and development of teaching English to young learners (YLs);
Examines cognitive and affective characteristics of YLs
Examines how children learn languages
Reviews approaches to the analysis of language for teaching English to YLs
Examines the classroom management strategies, methodology, resources and materials used for teaching YLs;
Reviews methods of evaluation and assessment used with YLs

Aim(s) of Course : This course focuses on the teaching of English as a foreign language to young learners (TEYL) from both a theoretical and practical standpoint.

Course Contents : Introduction to Young Learners (YLs): Characteristics of YLs; How YLs think and learn; Determining priorities, syllabus, and coursebook; The nature of activities for YLs; Classroom Language; teaching language structures; Teaching vocabulary; Stories: Reading and telling stories; Classroom management; Assessing YLs.
